Achieving Goals With Grit and Perseverance
I want my teen years to be years of fun, but I also want them to be formative. I hope that they will be full of new experiences, so at the end they will be years that I will never forget. I plan on thriving in my teenage years by keeping a good attitude and being competitive. Dottie Yeck’s philosophy applies to me because I want to do my best and have a lot of fun while doing it. The three goals I want to achieve are to graduate top of my class, to make the academic team, and lastly to make the marching band. I want to do these because I believe that I will be accepted into good colleges by doing them. I also think that they would be a lot of fun to do. Most of all, I think they would be good formative experiences.
The plans I have to achieve these goals are rather simple. I believe that grit is important, and I can apply it to all my goals. Grit is the determination to never give up. I will use it, so I never get discouraged in pursuing my goals. For goal one, I think I should study, ask for help, do my homework, and try my best. For goal two, I must study. I also must practice, participate, and standout. Lastly, for goal three, I think I should practice, learn songs, and completely master my instrument.
Now, no goal comes without roadblocks, and I would know that. So, here are some roadblocks I have imagined for my future. For goal one, I will have to worry about people being smarter than me, people trying harder than me, and people participating more than me. For goal two, I will have to worry about people being smarter than me, and people who think faster than me. Lastly, for goal three, I must worry about people who play better than me and people who have mastered their instrument, and especially people who practice more.
Now, you may ask how I might feel about my goals? My answer is that I feel positive about my goals. I will tackle my problems with determination and grit, because eventually I will prevail. So, to get through my problems, I will study, work on my hand eye coordination, practice, and participate.
With these goals, problems, and solutions in mind, I will make sure that my high school years will bring excitement, victories, and a better future. This will result in my teen years being filled with fun and formative experiences, so in the end, they will be years that I will never forget. Then, I can say I lived out Dottie Yeck’s philosophy of “Being Good + Doing Good = Having Fun + Being Happy”.
