My Life is a Roller Coaster
I see life as a roller coaster. Every roller coaster has a different speed. They all have twists and turns along the way. Just like a roller coaster, life is full of twists and turns. The ride of the life can be bumpy. It just depends on which roller coaster you choose to play a role in your life. Sometimes my roller coaster breaks down and I lose my confidence. How do I handle this?
When I was little, I always thought having a good life meant being wealthy, smart, popular, and successful. But over the years, I have discovered that there is more to a life than being all those things. I have learned that those virtues don’t always lead to a happy life. An important thing to remember is to be confident in whom you are and in what you can do best because lack of confidence won’t get you anywhere in the future.
Hanging around with the right friends is a way to get through your struggles and hardships you face through life. Among other things, school can give you a lot of stress and pressure. You get a lot of homework and tests that you must prepare for, but if you have supportive and understanding friends by your side, then they can help you get through these daunting times. If you surround yourself with kind, positive, and supportive friends then you will always have someone to turn to during tough times. Good friends will help you make virtue choices and make you smile when you feel like crying.
Another step to having a happy life is that making others happy can make you happy as well. I recently started to volunteer at a nursery home for elderly and I love it. I see the smiles on their faces when I come in and help them play bingo or serve them ice cream. I also play the piano for their entertainment and, if they know the song well, we sometimes even sing along. Knowing the fact that I make them smile is the greatest feeling in the world and it makes me really gratified to be there.
Lastly, I advise you to make good choices because making bad choices can lead to worse consequences. Volunteer or help the community in some ways because helping others is the key to happiness. Stay with people that support you and help you to be positive. Do things that are fun, like reading, sports, music, etc. This is your only life – no second chance. Make the most of it – after all, “being good and doing good equals having fun and being happy” (said by Dottie Yeck).
