Goal + Determination = Good Foundation
William Jennings Bryan said “Destiny is not a matter of chance, it is a matter of choice; it is not a thing to be waited for, it is a thing to be achieved.” A good education, goals, people, and faith will help you lay a good foundation for your life.
Studying is really important and has taught me to not give up and that you get out of it what you put in. I hope to go to college someday and I know studying will help get me there. I don’t want my education to end there, though. I want to keep learning and growing.
You should set goals for yourself. They will help you keep achieving and when you complete one of your goals, you feel an amazing sense of accomplishment. One of the goals I set for myself is to own a successful bakery. I want to go to college and learn to run a business. One way I’m learning how to run a business is selling my crocheted items on Etsy.
There are activities I participate in that help me find success. Playing violin teaches me although you can’t do everything perfectly the first time, it’s worth it when you do get it right. Horseback riding gives me confidence because who wants to tell a girl, who controls a two-thousand-pound animal, she can’t do something. Bible quizzing deepens my faith as well as teaches me important life lessons, like how to lose gracefully. Finally, volunteering teaches me to be happy with what I have, because a lot of other people have it worse. It also teaches me to be humble.
Many people in my life have helped me find happiness as well as lay a foundation for my life. I have a lot of good friends who I like to do things with. I also have grandparents who have a major influence on my life and support me by coming to my competitions and being available when I need them. My parents, who always do so much for me, like helping me study, taking me to events and just hanging out, are always there for me. They definitely help me find happiness, as well as plan for my future.
My faith helps me find joy and happiness now, as well as long-term. When I go through tough times, my faith brings me through. It gives me confidence, and makes me feel like I can take on the world. My faith gives me joy, so that even when there’s nothing to be happy about, I can still have peace.
Laying a good foundation for your life may not be easy, but it’s worth it in the end. Greg S. Reid said, “A dream written down with a date becomes a goal. A goal broken down into steps becomes a plan. A plan backed by action makes your dreams come true.” I have taken this to heart and I’m laying a good foundation for my life.
