Self Confidence
Dottie Yeck believed that being good and doing good would result in having fun and being happy. I most certainly agree with this philosophy. While grades and work are important to an extent, I believe that certain things come above that like physical health, mental health, and self confidence.
During my lifetime, I plan to graduate high school, graduate from college, get a good job with good pay, and have a family of my own. I also want to do many other things like help people in need, volunteer, donate, and help others gain self confidence.
People with self confidence issues lose faith in themselves. I previously had many events where I''ve lost faith. Since I''m a dancer, I have a lot of auditions yearly. One thing that really tends to make me nervous is public speaking and for one particular audition, we needed to answer questions in front of a judge panel. This was definitely a moment where I struggled with self confidence. I filled my head with a bunch of negative scenarios and really started to doubt myself. During this time my friends encouraged me with uplifting comments and talked me up the day of the audition. My family quizzed me on questions and helped me memorize responses. Anyone can get through any event where they struggle with self confidence by surrounding themselves with positive people that want to help.
During school, when a student doesn''t understand a topic, they feel less of themselves struggle with self confidence. In reality, grades and GPA don’t define a person. These things are somewhat important but not more important than a student''s self confidence. If someone is struggling with a subject in school, I always try to help them or explain it to them during class. Just doing this can boost someone''s self confidence school wise.
There are many ways to avoid negative impacts towards self confidence. Hanging out with people who aren’t the nicest to you can definitely have a negative impact on your self confidence. Always try to surround yourself with positive people that support you. Another way to boost your self confidence is to join a club or after school activity involving something you’re good at. This can definitely add value to your life and this allows you to be more confident knowing you’re good at something. When someone drags your self confidence down, bring it back up further than before.
Dottie Yeck believed that as long as people helped others, they would have a good life. I always make it a goal for myself to not only try to build up my own self confidence, but to build up others as well. I believe that if I do something to boost someone’s confidence, this will trigger a domino effect and others will want to do something as well. Confidence is a big thing that something little can change. Yeck wanted to encourage people to help others and her message definitely encouraged me.
