“Don’t wish for it, work for it,” quote by inspirational speaker Jim Rohn is a quote that I have come to love. When I first found this quote, it didn’t stick out to me. But then, I realized I use this quote everyday life. And I have also realized little moments build our future.
In life, I wish to achieve many things. I want to go to college, learn multiple languages, and create a family. I want to continue to play the cello and get married. I want to travel and see the world around me. It all starts with school and the desire to learn. I always try my best in school, and I''ve been working hard my whole life. I’ve seen everyone around me not care about school. I thought about doing it too, but then I think of my future. And now I can see my work will probably pay off with honors courses, college courses, scholarships, and more time for fun.
Even small moments have helped me build my confidence. Once I went to order a plain grilled cheese. The cashier kept asking if I wanted tomatoes, because he really liked them. I gave in, and ordered a grilled cheese with tomatoes, not what I wanted. I ate it and thanked him. But when I came back, I ordered what I wanted. It’s silly, but this little moment gave me confidence. I was proud when I ordered it right. It was all because of my parents, who allowed me to go alone and pushed me to be on my own.
I think that confidence, self-esteem, and enterprise. You must be willing to work hard, believe in yourself, and have self-esteem, all while being confident enough to follow your dreams, and be excited for what lies in your future. It’s also important to be able to see the good things in life.
Throughout my life, the phrase, “don’t wish for it, work for it,” has and continues to help me build self-esteem, strength, and confidence. It shows me a lot more than its initial message. All these things made me feel that life is like a grilled cheese. For each layer and ingredient of life is up to you, you decide. The important people in your life influence your life help you find your liking, and help you shape your opinions.
And although the life you choose might be simple, know it still has outstanding meaning. And when your time is up, you can look at it, take one big bite, and smile.
It has taught me how much I have in life, my freedom, and the things taken for granted. It has also taught me to just be content with the world around me, have the free will, confidence, and empowerment to create a future for myself. That anything is possible, and that it’s all the simple, little things that fill your life.
And I will get there with belief, self-esteem, confidence, and excitement.
