A Teen's Goals
There are many goals that teens look to achieve. They could be trying to get good grades, get a driver’s license, or get a job. Even though teenagers set these goals, it doesn’t mean it is easy for them to achieve. The way I see teen years is in a way of preparation. Being a teen is like being a kid but with tastes of adulthood. This is how the world prepares us for life. There are plenty of ways of learning in this world. Even getting in trouble teaches you valuable lessons that will be used in the future. The goals of teens relate to Dottie Yeck’s philosophy of being good and doing good equals being happy and having fun, because if someone achieved having good grades, a job, and license I believe that person would be most happy and most relaxed.
My goals are about moving forward. I plan on getting a job, straight A’s, and a driver’s license. These things in my eyes are some of the most important aspects of maturing. Getting a job is a responsibility, receiving straight A’s is showing effort, and achieving a license is showing independence.
We can’t achieve goals without problems in our way. Upon the road to happy lives there are many roadblocks. If I’m trying to get a job, I shouldn’t apply for just one. Obtaining a job isn’t just signing up and showing up, you must be the perfect fit. Otherwise, you won’t be accepted. With straight A’s, I’ve learned from experience that you cannot show up and know everything, I don’t think Albert Einstein got through his school years without looking over his information. The barrier of attempting to receive a driver’s license is getting nervous. I’ve thought about what the driver’s test would be like and was frightened. The stress sounds like a bit much for me.
With many roadblocks in life, there must be ways to solve them. Applying for jobs and not getting accepted is common. To destroy these blocks in the road, you could simply apply for more jobs and have an option to be accepted to more than one. Going for straight A’s isn’t the easiest thing in the world. Just set aside time to study as well as having time for fun. Being stressed for a driver’s test can easily be avoided with practice. I’ve heard that practice makes perfect, and when you feel you know your stuff you might do perfect.
With all these goals that teens like myself are looking to achieve, you must consider these roadblocks and ways to solve them. It could be getting a job, receiving straight A’s, and achieving your driver’s license. All these goals will have certain roadblocks on the way, and they aren’t going to destroy themselves. That’s why it’s up to us to find ways to defeat them. Once more, accomplishing goals lead into Dottie Yeck’s philosophy of doing good and being good equals being happy and having fun.
