Flowers That Strive to Bloom
All flowers face hardships, just like all people. But not all flowers bloom. Everything that has a goal must have the determination to work for it. If they do not, they may give up and wither away. We all strive to be good in school, at home, and in our communities, and it pays off. Determination is a key part in our day to day lives, but sometimes we just don’t know it. Many times, I have been determined. Determination goes hand in hand with motivation. A positive attitude also helps. I have shown a positive attitude in many situations, and it has proved itself to be very effective. Now, as a growing teenager, my petals of personality are starting to peel away to leave an upholding, independent, full-grown young lady.
Being positive is one of the best actions you can do to help a situation. I went to Kamp Kern during the summer, and we were going to climb the Tango Tower. The year prior, I climbed just to the first stage before coming down. But this time, I was determined to make it to the top. After I put my harness and helmet on, I could already start to feel the fear clench my stomach. I climbed to the first stage and looked down. My eyes got wide, and my hands got shaky. But then I looked up. I saw how far I needed to climb and how badly I longed to get to the top. So, I pulled myself up and kept climbing. I told myself the whole time that, “I can do this,” and, “I’m almost there.” And all the sudden, I was at the top! My hand felt out for the bell, I and rang it. I accomplished a goal I was waiting to do all year. I had made it!
This was a very proud moment for me. Only one other person in my cabin made it up there, but even they didn’t look over the top. I just really wanted to get to the top, seeing as I was too scared to do it last time. Before I climbed it, I was confident, but also a bit nervous that I would bail out again. But as soon as I got going, the fear impaired me. I stopped breathing. I clenched the handles of the log. I was paralyzed. But once I looked up, I never looked back down. I obtained myself by saying good things. At the end, I felt proud and accomplished.
I think that I taught others that you can make it if you are determined. I know I taught myself that. And that when you stay positive you can make it.
We are all like flowers, striving to bloom through all the bad weather and the coldness of problems. But through all the clouds, if you stay positive, the sun will shine through at the end. You just have to make it there.
